Several people (namely, Miss Henderson’s 3rd grade class) have asked what sort of things the people here eat. Here’s what today’s lunch looked like for me. This is pretty much what I have for lunch everyday.

They greyish spongy stuff is called ‘injera’ (you can spell it however you want… anything Amharic in English is pretty much just spelled phonetically.) and the stuff you put on it is called ‘wot.’ You eat everything with your hands… or well, specifically hand. Yes, it gets rather messy. All that stuff is quite spicy, though the ‘injera’ itself is somewhat sour-tasting. It’s definitely an acquired taste.
