Cheraw

May.3.2010

Averi and I headed down to Cheraw, SC for some premarital counseling with her uncle, who is a pastor at a church there. I only got a handful of shots (we were pretty well occupied for most of our stay… which unfortunately didn’t last long enough.). Averi’s cousins have adopted a kitten from a local shelter. They named her Emma:

Anyhow… Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way (I’m not a big fan of cats.), here’s why you should remember Cheraw: it is one of very few towns in the South that wasn’t razed by General Sherman during the War Between the States. The legend is he had family there. At any rate he stayed in this house on his way through:

After staying a few nights, he moved on north without burning some of the beautiful homes there. Here’s a few we saw:

Kinda temped to photoshop the stop sign and cars out of the photo and replace the asphalt with gravel… this road’s been here a while. A long, long while.
